And this, my friends, is one kick-ass bug.
Or, to be more specific, a Cyclochile australasiae - more commonly known as a 'Green Grocer' cicada around these parts.
Apparently, these guys are one of the loudest sound-producing insects in the world! A lot more other interesting information about these critters can be found here.
This particular specimen weighs in at a hefty 6-7cm in length.
